The funeral for British singer, Amy Winehouse, was held in London, England today, as the singer was found dead on Saturday, July 23, 2011, of a suspected drug overdose. Dozens of Winehouse's family and friends, came out to pay their respects and bid her farewell.
Crowds gather outside the funeral
Winehouse's ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who publicly admitted he introduced the once healthy singer to heroin and crack-cocaine, marking a massive downward spiral in her life and career, was barred from the funeral by her family and denied permission to leave prison to attend the funeral.

No official cause of death has been determined at this time, due to the autopsy being branded "inconclusive." Standard toxicology tests are underway, with the results expected in several weeks. Winehouse leaves behind an estate worth millions and numerous unreleased songs.

Her story should serve as a sobering reminder to many of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, as Winehouse had so much to live for, but due to not embracing the importance of remaining sober, lost her life. This really is a tragic waste of life, because as accomplished as she was in her chosen profession, there was still so much more she could have done over time, with the talents God gave her. Drug and alcohol abuse brought it to a halt.

amy winehouse dead

Well Amy Winehouse is dead. Assumed she did the ol' O Dizzle. As one of Chappelles alter egos said "Cocaine is a hell of a drug." Maybe it was Rick James... Well I'm not going to look it up for this article because I am completely indifferent. Amy Winehouse is no one to me. I don't care if famous people die, I blog about it to get hits. So... thanks.

At any rate, watch an episode of intervention where someone who succumbs to drugs or alcohol and wasn't a freaking rich never-worked-a-real-job "musician" / socialite / tabloid fodder person, loses everything, goes to rehab and then relapses and dies and tell me how you feel. Now that's sad. Rich people think they deserve to feel awesome on command, good way to do that... drugs. Problem is drugs kill you. So entitlement + money + everyone feeding your ego + moron = dead from over dose. Sorry to her family, and friends (the ones that didn't help her score) they have to suffer because of her decisions and that is also sad.

Saturday, July 23, 2011 0 comments
A book titled "The 27s: The Greatest Myth of Rock & Roll" documented the music icons who died at the age of 27.

With Amy Winehouse's death, it reminds us also of several other musical stars who also passed away at the same age.

Amy Winehouse now joins "The 27 Club," which includes:

Robert Leroy Johnson (May 8, 1911 – August 16, 1938) was an American blues singer and musician. His landmark recordings from 1936–1937 display a combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that have influenced later generations of musicians.

Lewis Brian Hopkins Jones (28 February 1942 – 3 July 1969), known as Brian Jones, was an English musician and a founding member of The Rolling Stones.[1] His main instruments were the guitar and the harmonica, but he played a wide variety of other instruments.

Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer, songwriter, painter, dancer and music arranger. She rose to prominence in the late 1960s as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company and later as a solo artist with her backing groups, The Kozmic Blues Band and The Full Tilt Boogie Band.

James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942– September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter. He is widely considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in musical history, and one of the most influential musicians of his era across a range of genres.

James Douglas "Jim" Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American lead singer and lyricist of the rock band The Doors, as well as a poet.

Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994) was an American singer-songwriter, musician and artist, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana.
